For some people, tradition is everything. If you are a Hispanic girl when you turn 15 years of age, you will probably be having a Quinceanera.
Some American girls may have a sweet 16, but it is not the same.
It is a two-part festivity for the girl. It may be as close to what seems like a wedding, but of course in our country you cannot get married at 15 years old. Even if the celebration represents her becoming a woman. If the daughter gets married too soon after this celebration, her family may not want to spend as much on her wedding. For a Quinceanera, they usually will pay for a limousine to take the girl and her escorts to the church for the dedication or blessing. Then there will be reception after.
There usually is a special sequence's dance and a presentation for the girl. Then there will be a catered meal and of course deserts. These days there may be small thank you gifts for the guests, and all the extra just like at wedding. However, the best part is the gifts she gets, there usually are a lot of them. Some American girls may have a cotillion or a debutante or a sweet 16, but there is no other coming out more familiar then a girl 15 years old who has a Quinceanera.
