Let's
be clear! Here's what I know about dogs. They cool themselves through
their paws, their mouths and their ears… they should not be SHAVED!!!
I'm not shaving my dogs, I'm thinning their coats. I am very aware of
sunburn and that you shouldn't SHAVE dogs, especially double coated dogs.
Peter, Paul and Mary are not purebred huskies, they are mixed with
something that I'm not sure of, because they were rescues from the
Humane Society. They struggle big time in this Georgia heat. They are
lethargic and constantly thirsty around this time of year.
For
four years they were never thinned and I was advised to start thinning
by several dog lovers and a vet. I started having them thinned two years
ago and they do so much better in the summer and are happier when their
coats are thinned. AGAIN, not shaven but thinned! If they were double
coated purebred Siberian huskies I wouldn't do it.
And to all
my dog lovers out there that are giving me a hard time, you need to know
that my four dogs are better taken care of than some humans take care
of themselves. They live in a climate-controlled doghouse shaded by huge
oak trees. They are groomed once a week by one of the best groomers in
Georgia. The Waggin’ Wagon!!! And they see the vet often for checkups.
When I'm away they are cared for around the clock. I LOVE MY DOGS and
have the heart and the bills to prove it.
Ok, let me breathe... Talking bout my dogs!!! Calm down TP, calm down!
