OLD MEMORIES VS NEW MEMORIES

I use to work at this building the San Diego County Administration building.  There you can apply for jobs for the county; file and research property in the county; you can record and find birth, death and marriage for the county; there is a lot of work going on in this government building.  They replaced the parking lots on both sides with what they consider a urban park or water park.  County government at it's finest.  Your next to the Ocean front, down from the airport and lots of business.

They may have a little housing in this area if you have big, big pockets, of course you will not still be living near the park.  There is a big hotel next door, but you better have big pockets to live there also.

I remember the days, that was where my first job for County of San Diego, I was just twenty-three, at that time.  I was one of the youngest people working in my department. Over fifty percent of this area which is now a water park on both sides of the building was for the use of employees parking. First they took part of the over all parking area to use and assigned it for public and top officials only.  Next they sold the employees part of parking, to a parking company to collect and managed the parking. Now it has been taken away from the employees and converted to a water park.

Of course, I have moved on along time ago, but I remember applying and taking the test to be a employee there, at that building.  Taking the steps up eight flights to the area where you can buy your lunch or have lunch to get out of your office.  I remember taking long walks along the waterfront that is across the street down to Seaport Village, a small shopping area.  I remember sitting and watching as the office policies changed, computer changed, the departments changed, and people who worked there changed.  Saying "Goodbye" to the people who have worked there twenty or thirty years.  Of course I was happy when my turn came, I just moved on to a new job.  But I thought about that building and how I missed walking out the door at lunch and walking along the ocean.
